How I fixed audio problem in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS desktop

In this post I am going to share how I fix audio problem in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Desktop. A few months ago while listening some video I found the audio suddenly stopped working. It was quite surprising.

The speaker was working fine but headphones were not working after connecting to audio jack.

It is quite obvious that on such audio problem you will check if any mute settings is done . In my case audio settings was not mute.

How I fix the audio problem in my Ubuntu system, here are the steps –

  1. Remove pulseaudio and also-base package
  2. sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio

  3. Re-intstall pulseaudio and also-base package
  4. sudo apt-get -y install alsa-base pulseaudio

  5. Reload alsa
  6. sudo alsa force-reload

You may have to restart your system to make audio working. Share your solution in comment section, it will help others too.
