Install VLC Media Player on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

VLC media player is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player(Linux,Windows,OSX,BSD etc.) and streaming media server written by the VideoLAN project.

This is my first post on VLC media player.Recently a question was asked by a newbie to me. His question was , how to install VLC media player on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

There are two methods to install VLC Media player
1. By using Graphical interface (from “Ubuntu Software Centre”)
2. By using command line

Install VLC by using command line

We mostly prefer commandline. Because it is fast, simple and for learning. Use below command to install VLC

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install vlc browser-plugin-vlc

After installation get completed. Go to the dash home and search for VLC.

On first time of VLC opening, it will ask acceptance for “Privacy and Network Access policy”. Click on “Continue” button.

vlc

Now VLC will open. Watch your videos and listen music with awesome VLC media player.
